Back to the USA

It’s time to return to the USA, in order to return to the UK, via the Peace Bridge. I passed the Canadian flag first then the United Nations flag and then the Star Spangled Banner came into view with a great big “Welcome to New York” sign beside it.

Niagara at Night

The skyline is well lit at night and during winter the streets are alight with Christmas decorations.

The falls are lit at night by lights totaling 250,000 candle power!

The skyline on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls is dominated by a tall lookout tower.

A view towards the most famous falls in North America from Canada looking towards the USA.

If you are so inclined you may walk across Rainbow Bridge into the United States of America.

Onwards in Ontario

I begin on my journey to the Canadian/USA border and one of the biggest waterfalls in the world. Niagara Falls is just over an hour from the city of Toronto.

I pass the tall towers of Toronto’s skyline on the way to the highway.

Toronto has a colourful night skyline.

I found a place to admire my favourite drink with a great view.

In the morning the CN Tower was flashing and still slighty shrouded by the clouds.

As the day went by the sun came out.

Toronto is Canada’s largest city… I’m going to find out what the nightlife is like!

Rememberance Day Service

My first day in Toronto was Remembrance Day. I made my way to the Old City Hall Cenotaph for the Remembrance Day Service and passed a tribute to Winston Churchill on the way along Queen Street.

The Remembrance Day Service begun at 10:30am.

The service commenced with the colour parties marching towards the Old City Hall.

The Canadian flag and British flag were paraded side by side.

After two minutes of silence Mayor David Miller made a moving address and the service ended with God Save The Queen.

Canada’s Capital

Here is the Canadian Parliament in the centre of Ottawa.

The clock face on the Peace Tower looks familiar. It was in fact based on the design of Big Ben in London.

The inside of the Canadian Parliament is beautiful. I was lucky enough to sit up in the viewing gallery and watch Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper debate with Her Majesty’s Opposition during Question Period.

I took the elevator to the top of the Peace tower and admired the 360 degree view across Ottawa.

There are plenty of government buildings and Canadian flags in view.

You can see the top of the parliament library tower.

There are plenty of sights to see along Confederation Boulevard.

I ended up on Elgin Street in the center of Ottawa.
